Karur Stampede: TN Police Say Vijay ‘Ignored Advice’; TVK Didn’t Provide Food or Water to Crowd Waiting Since Noon

Published:

Karur, Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu police have revealed new details in the investigation of the tragic stampede during the public event attended by actor Vijay, stating that the actor allegedly “ignored advice” regarding crowd management. Authorities also accused the event organizers, TVK, of failing to provide basic necessities such as food and water to the crowd, which had been waiting since noon.

The stampede, which occurred amid a massive gathering of fans, led to multiple injuries and created panic among attendees. Police sources said that while security measures were suggested to manage the large turnout, the actor and organizers did not fully implement the recommendations. This lapse, combined with the lack of provisions for those waiting for hours, contributed to the chaotic situation.

Officials explained that the crowd, numbering in the thousands, had been standing for extended periods under the hot sun, and the absence of water and refreshments escalated tensions. “The situation became volatile because people were dehydrated and frustrated after waiting for several hours,” a senior police officer stated.

The incident has sparked criticism of event planning and crowd control protocols, with calls for stricter regulations for public gatherings involving high-profile personalities. Authorities are currently questioning the organizers and reviewing security arrangements to determine accountability.

The Tamil Nadu police emphasized that public safety should remain the top priority in such events and warned that negligence in providing basic amenities and following safety advice could have serious consequences. Investigations are ongoing, and further action against responsible parties may follow.
