Shivpuri/Gwalior, Sept 12: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Friday inaugurated the 12.18-km Shivpuri–Jhansi Link Road (Old NH-25), built at a cost of ₹20.37 crore and completed ahead of schedule. The road connects Shivpuri to Madhav National Park and Jhansi, creating a new development corridor between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Scindia said infrastructure and connectivity are the foundation of national progress. “This road is the lifeline of Shivpuri—just like an artery carries blood through the body,” he remarked. Work on the project began on 15 October 2023 with an original completion deadline of October 2025, but was finished in less than two years.
Key features include 11 culverts, road-safety furniture worth ₹15 lakh to protect wildlife in the tiger reserve, and a 2.4-km two-lane stretch near the Shivpuri airstrip to aid tourist access.
Scindia highlighted other upcoming projects: an airport for Shivpuri, the ₹44,000-crore Ken–Betwa river-link project, and a ₹2,500-crore Adani Defence unit. He noted that over 75 new power substations have been approved to strengthen electricity supply, calling it his “responsibility to bring light to every home.”
The minister thanked Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for their support, adding that these initiatives will link the Gwalior-Chambal region to the national development mainstream.
