Actor Slaps Producer with Sandal at Film Premiere After ₹23 Lakh Fraud Allegation

Published:

The premiere of the Hindi crime thriller So Long Valley descended into chaos on Friday night after model and actress Ruchi Gujjar publicly confronted and allegedly slapped the film’s producer, Karan Singh, accusing him of cheating her out of ₹23 lakh.

The confrontation, caught on camera, quickly went viral on social media, turning what was supposed to be a celebratory film launch into a scandalous headline.

Gujjar alleges that Singh took the money from her under the promise of launching a television project, which never materialized. She further claimed he had assured her of a share in the profits and an on-screen credit — commitments that were never honored.

Following the incident, the Oshiwara police registered an FIR against Karan Singh under charges related to cheating, based on Gujjar’s complaint. A police official confirmed the FIR was filed on Thursday and said Gujjar claimed Singh neither initiated the promised project nor returned her money.

In addition, Gujjar’s legal counsel has stated that a separate FIR will be filed at Amboli police station for alleged assault.

Meanwhile, So Long Valley’s co-producer and director Man Singh dismissed the allegations, calling the entire episode a “publicity stunt.” In a statement, Singh said Gujjar had previously tried to block the film’s release through legal means, but the court permitted the premiere to proceed as scheduled.

“Ruchi Gujjar and Karan Singh know each other well. If she really paid him, she should show proof. This is clearly an attempt to gain attention,” Man Singh stated.

The film, which stars Tridha Choudhury and Vikram Kochhar, was released amid the controversy. While the premiere has grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons, the legal and public fallout between Gujjar and Singh appears far from over.
