Ludhiana, 26th Oct. A man linked to the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique has been arrested from Ludhiana, Punjab. The arrest was announced by Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav on Saturday. The accused, identified as Sujeet Sushil Singh, was apprehended in a joint operation conducted by the Punjab Police and Mumbai Police.
Director General of Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav shared the update on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, stating, “In a major breakthrough, Mumbai Police, in coordination with Punjab Police, has apprehended Sujeet Sushil Singh, a Mumbai resident involved in the high-profile murder of Baba Siddique.”
According to the authorities, Sujeet played a critical role in the conspiracy, receiving prior knowledge of the murder plot from co-accused Nitin Gautam Sapre three days before the assassination. Sujeet reportedly assisted in logistical arrangements for the crime. Following his arrest, he has been handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.
Baba Siddique, aged 66, was shot dead on October 12 by three individuals at Kher Nagar in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The joint operation reflects increased cooperation among law enforcement agencies as they intensify efforts to bring all individuals involved in the high-profile murder to justice.
