Singer Katy Perry broke down in tears during the final concert of the Australian leg of her Lifetimes tour, marking her first performance since news of her split from actor Orlando Bloom became public.
The emotional moment came on Monday night at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, as the 40-year-old pop star prepared to sing her hit track Firework. Perry, visibly moved, formed a heart with her hands and addressed the crowd: “Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world.”
Multiple videos of the touching moment quickly spread across social media, with fans praising the Grammy nominee for showing vulnerability and strength despite her personal struggles.
Perry’s appearance came just days after her breakup with Bloom, 48, was confirmed by PEOPLE on June 26. The two, who share a 4½-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, had been together on and off since 2016 and got engaged in 2019. Their split became apparent after Bloom attended Jeff Bezos’ wedding alone in Venice last month.
While Perry was on stage in Australia, Bloom shared reflective quotes on his Instagram Stories. One read: “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most,” attributed to Buddha. Another, from Daisaku Ikeda’s Daily Encouragement, stated: “The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.”
Fans quickly rallied behind Perry, praising her for performing through heartbreak. “She always shows up, even when she’s hurting,” one fan wrote. Another pointed out, “Katy went through a breakup during a tour in 2011 too—this woman deserves peace.”
Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand for one year before their 2011 split, which also occurred while she was touring. Her current heartbreak adds another chapter to a life lived largely in the public eye — one marked by resilience, reinvention, and emotional honesty.
