Sudden Blood Pressure Drop Likely Cause of Shefali Jariwala’s Death; No Foul Play Suspected, Say Police

Published:

Doctors suspect a sudden drop in blood pressure as the likely cause of actor Shefali Jariwala’s untimely death, while police have ruled out any foul play. “We are awaiting the post-mortem report,” said a police officer involved in the investigation.

According to officials, the 42-year-old actor collapsed at her Andheri residence on Friday night. Her husband, television actor Parag Tyagi, immediately rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Initial medical assessments pointed to a possible cardiac arrest. Her body was later transferred to R N Cooper Hospital in Juhu for a detailed post-mortem.

Doctors at Cooper Hospital suspect a sharp drop in blood pressure could have triggered her sudden death. Police noted that Jariwala had been observing a fast for a Satyanarayan pooja held at her home. Her husband informed them she collapsed shortly after eating food prepared the previous day.

During the investigation, police recorded statements from her husband and family members. In the course of the panchnama, two boxes containing anti-ageing, skin glow, and vitamin tablets were recovered from her residence. Her family told police she had been using these supplements without medical consultation but had not experienced any prior health issues due to them.

“No foul play is suspected at this point. The final cause will be confirmed after we receive the post-mortem report,” the officer added.

Jariwala’s final rites were performed by her family, while police have registered a case of Accidental Death (ADR) as per procedure.
