Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Kazan to participate in the BRICS Summit, expressed strong criticism for those having ‘double standards’ on serious issues like terrorism.
Addressing the Closed Plenary Session of the 16th Summit, PM Modi appealed to the nations to stay united and cooperate strongly to deal with terrorism and terror financing.
“There is no place for double standards on such a serious issue. We should take active steps to prevent radicalization among the youth of our countries. We have to work together on the pending issue of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism in the UN,” he added.
In his address, PM Modi also reiterated India’s stand on war, saying, ” We support dialogue and diplomacy, not war.”
Earlier on Tuesday, in a bilateral meeting between Modi and Putin, New Delhi stood by its message of peace. “We have been in constant touch on the subject of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. We believe that problems should be resolved only through peaceful means. We fully support the early restoration of peace and stability. All our efforts give priority to humanity. India is ready to provide all possible support in the times to come,” it had said.
