Monks press for strict action with administration
Mischievous elements have vandalized the statue of Ramakrishna Paramhansa at the Ramakrishna Math at Jamtara. This incident has caused significant outrage among the monks of the Math. The monks are demanding strict action against the culprits. Meanwhile, SDPO Vikas Anand Laguri has stated that the perpetrator has been identified and swift action will be taken.The Maharaj of Ramakrishna Math has demanded strict action against the culprits from the Jamtara police.
Jamtara police is actively investigating the case and has identified the accused.
Ramakrishna Math, is a a branch of Belur Math, in Jamtara established in year 1921 and this act of vandalism has sparked a huge outrage amongst the monks of the Math. The idol of Ramakrishna Paramhansa was damaged in the incident and police sees this matter as quite sensitive and they have have launched an in-depth investigation. There is a significant anger among the Maharaj (head monk) and devotees of the Math. The Maharaj has demanded strict action against the culprits from the police.
Monks say – Our sentiments have been deeply hurt; It is worth noting that the Ramakrishna Math in Jamtara was established in 1921, and this is the first time such an incident of idol vandalism has occurred there. However, the motive behind the vandalism is still unknown. It is reported that among all the Ramakrishna Maths in the country, only those in Kolkata and Jamtara have idols of Ramakrishna Paramhansa that are worshipped; in all other Maths, only pictures are worshipped. Given this, the monks have described the act as a deep emotional and spiritual blow to the community and have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile immediately upon notification of the incident, SDPO Vikas Anand Laguri and his force immediately arrived at the site with an and gathered information about the incident from the monks present there. During the investigation, the police also questioned local residents and are working to collect evidence related to the case.
As soon as the news of the incident spread, several monks from the Asansol branch of the Math arrived at the Jamtara Ramakrishna Math and expressed their grief over the event. The monks condemned the act, calling it reprehensible and stated that it had deeply hurt religious sentiments. They have requested the local administration to take strict action against the culprits.
