Lawlessness in Ranchi: AJSU Protests Bhupal Sahu’s Murder, BJP Slams Govt Over Anil Tiger’s Killing

Published:

Ranchi: Ranchi witnessed protests on Friday as AJSU Party workers blocked roads in Pandara, condemning the murder of Ratu block vice president Bhupal Sahu. Demonstrators burned tires, disrupting traffic, while businesses in Pandara and Ratu remained shut in protest.

Sahu, a trader and AJSU leader, was killed on Thursday evening inside his footwear shop at Mama Complex on Ravi Steel Jhiri Road. According to reports, a man posing as a customer entered the shop, examined products for a few minutes, and then suddenly attacked Sahu with a knife, slitting his throat before fleeing the scene.

The incident follows the murder of BJP leader Anil Tiger just two days earlier, raising serious concerns over law and order in Ranchi. Former Jharkhand minister and Ranchi MLA CP Singh slammed the state government, stating, “Criminals now rule Ranchi. The city shut down in protest over Anil Tiger’s murder, and by evening, Bhupal Sahu was brutally killed.”

AJSU supporters and locals staged a road blockade at Ravi Steel Chowk, demanding swift action and the immediate arrest of the accused. Protesters set tires on fire, completely halting traffic on the Pandara-Ratu main road. Shops in Ravi Steel and Jhiri areas remained closed in solidarity.

With two murders in 48 hours, security concerns in Ranchi have intensified. The BJP attacked the Hemant Soren-led government, alleging its failure to control crime, stating, “The state is slipping out of their hands, and criminals are ruling Jharkhand.”
