“Chhattisgarh Assembly Set Global Example of Parliamentary Conduct”: President Murmu

Raipur— President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the silver jubilee celebrations of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in Raipur today, lauding the House for upholding exemplary democratic traditions over the past 25 years.

In her address, President Murmu highlighted the Assembly’s unique rule of automatic suspension for members entering the well during proceedings — a rule that has been strictly followed without requiring the intervention of the Marshall. “The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has set a remarkable example of parliamentary conduct, not just for India but for democratic systems worldwide,” she remarked.

Emphasizing women’s empowerment, the President urged women MLAs to support and uplift other women across diverse fields. She acknowledged the hard work of women balancing professional and household responsibilities, stating, “When women empower each other, society becomes stronger and more compassionate.”

President Murmu also underlined Chhattisgarh’s developmental potential, particularly in industries like cement, minerals, steel, aluminum, and power generation. She stressed the importance of balancing growth with environmental conservation and called on policymakers to ensure inclusive progress for all sections of society.

The event marked a milestone in Chhattisgarh’s parliamentary journey, celebrating two and a half decades of democratic excellence and development.
