The Brazil buzz is well and truly here

India vs Brazil

Tickets went live at 4pm on Thursday. The author was alert and logged into the ticketing app sharp at 4pm, but could not get in as the app crashed under the heavy load. Three minutes later, when access was finally restored, there was another shock waiting. The queue had already stretched to 8,530 people.

A quick call to a friend brought some envy, as he was placed 3,421st in the queue. But even that did not guarantee a ticket. Most of the tickets in the Rs 999 to Rs 3,500 price range were sold out within a few minutes, leaving many fans disappointed.

Ticket prices range from Rs 999 to Rs 15,000. As per reports, 40,000 sellable tickets were made available, with the lower-priced slabs snapped up within an hour of the online window opening on the District app for the match at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

The tickets are priced at Rs 999, Rs 2,000, Rs 2,500, Rs 3,500, Rs 4,500, Rs 6,000, Rs 7,000, Rs 9,000 and Rs 15,000 for VIP seats. VYBK has a seating capacity of around 65,000, with 40,000 tickets put on sale. The organisers are expected to make an approximate profit of Rs 30 crore from ticket sales for the Brazil game alone.

Tickets for the other two friendlies are yet to be released.

Like the recent Durand Cup, the tickets are M-Tickets, meaning fans will not have to collect or redeem physical tickets before the game. They can enter the stadium directly by showing the QR code on the app, which will be unlocked on the day of the fixture at 2pm.

While some fans were ecstatic after managing to get their hands on tickets, others were left disappointed, with most of the tickets priced below Rs 6,000 selling out quickly.

“I was in the queue from 4pm sharp, but unfortunately, when my turn came, I was left looking for tickets priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 9,000. I couldn’t grab any,” said Krishanu Chowdhury of Kolkata.

“I am a big fan of Vinicius Junior and Carlo Ancelotti, and I can’t wait to be in the stands for this historic friendly in October,” said an ecstatic Arijit Roy of Kolkata after securing his tickets.

The frenzy over the tickets has once again brought back memories of the Lionel Messi event in December 2025, which generated huge excitement across the country. Once again, it has shown just how passionate and committed Kolkata’s football crowd remains.

The five-time world champions are expected to arrive in Kolkata on September 30 from Australia, where they are scheduled to play two friendlies during the international window. The Selecao are expected to arrive with a 96-member contingent, including players and support staff, for the friendly.

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to announce his squad for the three friendlies on September 9.
