The devastating floods that swept through Nepal have left behind a trail of destruction, claiming hundreds of lives, separating families and leaving thousands missing. As rescue and relief operations continue, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has travelled to the flood-hit country to stand with affected communities and extend support to those struggling to rebuild their lives.

The actor shared pictures from his visit on social media, giving fans a glimpse of his efforts on the ground. His gesture has drawn widespread appreciation, with many praising Sood for stepping forward to support victims during the crisis.

Sonu Sood reaches Nepal

On Tuesday, Sonu Sood took to Instagram to share pictures with people affected by the disaster. Promising to help them rebuild, the actor wrote, “They lost their homes, their families, their childhood…but together, we will help them find a new beginning. Nepal, you are not alone.”

Speaking to ANI, Sood said his primary aim was to meet flood victims and understand what they needed most.

“We are here to meet the victims of the flood. We got lots of stuff from India. We just want to be with the people who are in need and will try to bring their lives back (on track),” he said.

The actor said relief supplies, including blankets and food, had already been brought from India, while efforts were underway to determine what additional assistance was required.

“I think it’s everyone’s duty to do their part,” Sood said, adding that relief efforts would continue beyond the immediate aftermath of the disaster.

“Sending from India to Nepal is always a little challenge because we need a lot of people. But we will make sure that not only this month but also in the coming months, the relief keeps coming,” he added.

Fans hail Sood as ‘real-life hero’

Sood’s visit quickly won praise on social media, with fans applauding his decision to personally stand alongside flood victims.

“Our hero… India proud of you,” one user commented.

“Best Villain on screen. Real life hero,” another wrote.

“Messiah is on duty,” read another comment.

“Lots of love and respect to you, real-life hero,” a fan added.

Sood has previously been widely recognised for his humanitarian efforts, particularly during times of crisis.

Manisha Koirala, Sunita Ahuja urge support for Nepal

Sood is not the only Bollywood personality to speak out following the devastating floods.

Actor Manisha Koirala has appealed to the international community to come together and extend assistance to Nepal following the August 26 flash floods.

Govinda’s wife and reality television personality Sunita Ahuja also described Nepal as her “Matrabhoomi” and urged members of the Bollywood fraternity to come forward and support those affected.

Nepal floods: Death toll and rescue efforts

The floods have caused widespread devastation across Nepal. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 939 people have died, while 3,925 remain missing, including 592 foreign nationals.

Rescue and search operations are continuing in several affected districts, including Rasuwa and Nuwakot, as authorities race to locate those still missing and provide assistance to survivors.

The Indian Embassy in Nepal has also issued information on the procedures for identifying the mortal remains of Indian citizens who lost their lives in the disaster.

As Nepal confronts the enormous scale of the tragedy, Sood’s visit has added a high-profile voice to the growing calls for sustained relief and support for communities struggling to recover.
