Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas along the State’s border with Nepal, assessing preparedness as the neighbouring country continues to grapple with devastating flash floods.

Choudhary surveyed areas including Bagaha, Valmikinagar, Bettiah and Motihari to assess the flood situation and review the possible impact on Bihar.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said he also reviewed administrative preparedness, precautionary measures, safety arrangements and relief and rescue operations in the border areas.
Officials told to remain fully prepared
The Chief Minister directed officials to take all necessary steps with the utmost promptness and preparedness in view of the situation in Nepal.
The aerial survey comes a day after devastating flash floods in Nepal claimed the lives of at least 162 people, with many others still untraceable. With Bihar sharing a border with Nepal, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and preparing for any potential impact of flooding.
Focus remains on safety and relief
The review covered measures intended to protect people in vulnerable areas and ensure that relief and rescue operations can be carried out swiftly if required.
The administration’s preparedness is particularly significant in border districts, where developments upstream in Nepal can have consequences for flood-prone areas of Bihar.
The Chief Minister’s instructions underline the need for authorities to remain alert as rescue and relief efforts continue in Nepal and the possibility of further flooding is assessed.
