Pratika Rawal has earned her maiden T20I call-up for India as she is set to replace injured Jemimah Rodrigues in the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup.
Jemimah sustained a right hamstring injury while playing for Southern Brave in the ongoing Women’s Hundred in England on August 3. She subsequently underwent a clinical assessment by the BCCI Medical Team at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, which confirmed a high-grade tear.
As a result, the 25-year-old is set to miss not only the ACC Women’s Asia Cup in the UAE but also the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
For Pratika, this is a huge opportunity after already representing India in both ODIs and Tests. She was also part of India’s historic 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup-winning campaign (although she was ruled out before the semi-final due to an ankle injury).
However, she recently missed the Lord’s Test against England due to an injury. Having now recovered, she was set to join Warwickshire for a stint in the One-Day Cup. But this maiden T20I call-up presents an entirely different opportunity and challenge.
Interestingly, Pratika has not played a T20 since the Challenger Trophy in November 2024. In that tournament, she scored 142 runs at a strike rate of 111.81.
She was subsequently picked by UP Warriorz for WPL 2026 but could not make her debut due to that ankle injury, sustained during the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.
The Women’s Asia Cup is set to begin on August 28 in Dubai, with India placed in Group A alongside Hong Kong, Thailand and Pakistan.
