The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Wednesday announced a three-match T20I series between India and Afghanistan with all three games set to be played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi from September 13 to 17.
The series will begin on September 13 which will be followed by the second match on September 15. The third and final T20I will take place on September 17. The series is part of Afghanistan’s Future Tours Programme as they expect to play its home fixtures in India.
In an official press release, BCCI President Mithun Manhas said, “The BCCI remains committed to supporting the growth of cricket in Afghanistan and providing its players with opportunities to compete at the highest level.”
BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia added, “”The BCCI is pleased to support the Afghanistan Cricket Board in hosting this T201 series in India..”
Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley also welcomed both teams to Delhi and said the matches would give local fans an opportunity to enjoy exciting cricket. “We are delighted to welcome both teams to the Arun Jaitley Stadium for what promises to be an exciting T201 series…I am confident that the three matches will give fans in Delhi an opportunity to enjoy some exciting cricket and further add to the rich history of international cricket at this iconic venue.”
Afghanistan last toured India in June 2026 for a three-match ODI series. The two teams also played a three-match T20I series in January 2024 and India also hosted Afghanistan’s first Test in 2018.
