Bengaluru: Apartment associations across Bengaluru have stepped up efforts to assist residents with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by organising help desks, awareness camps and online guidance sessions in collaboration with Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
With many residents expressing confusion over the enumeration process, several resident welfare associations have begun providing support to ensure eligible voters complete their forms accurately and on time.
Associations launch help desks and online sessions
The Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF) has been conducting daily online sessions to answer residents’ questions and simplify the SIR process.
According to Satish Mallya of BAF, the federation has prepared a detailed list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) covering different situations faced by residents.
“There is a lot of confusion among people. We have prepared an FAQ covering various scenarios. In addition, we hold a live online session every evening where residents can raise their concerns, and our association members help them with suitable solutions,” he said.
Helping residents across India and abroad
Apartment complexes in Bengaluru house people from different states and countries, making the enumeration process more complex.
Many flat owners and former residents currently living overseas also need assistance in completing the forms.
Krishna Kumar, a resident of an apartment complex in Byrathi, said associations are trying to help non-resident owners despite challenges caused by different time zones.
“We are also trying to help those living overseas complete the forms. However, coordinating across time zones and getting them to submit the forms has been a challenge,” he said.
Evening camps for working professionals
Apartment associations are also organising evening camps in coordination with BLOs to make it easier for working professionals and senior citizens to complete the verification process.
Satish K, a resident of an apartment complex on Kanakapura Road, said one of the biggest hurdles has been tracing electoral records from 2002, as names often differ from current records.
The initiative comes as apartment associations play an increasingly important role in ensuring that residents are able to complete the SIR process smoothly while addressing documentation and verification challenges. #Bengaluru #SIR #ElectionRoll #ApartmentAssociations #Voters #NewsKarnataka
