Mysuru: South Western Railway (SWR) General Manager P. Ananth conducted a comprehensive inspection of railway establishments and infrastructure in the Mysuru division on Wednesday, reviewing healthcare facilities, station infrastructure, ongoing development works and passenger services.
The inspection covered the Railway Hospital in Mysuru, the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar railway section and key facilities at Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar stations. The General Manager also chaired a review meeting at the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office to assess the division’s performance and the progress of important projects.
Railway Hospital facilities reviewed
During his visit to the Railway Hospital in Mysuru, P. Ananth assessed the healthcare services and patient-care facilities available for railway employees and their families.
He interacted with doctors, hospital staff and patients to understand the quality of medical services being provided and identify areas requiring improvement. The inspection also covered the availability of medical equipment, healthcare infrastructure and other essential facilities.
The General Manager stressed the importance of providing timely and efficient medical services while keeping patient needs at the centre of healthcare delivery.
He also emphasised the need to equip the hospital with modern healthcare facilities so that railway employees and their family members can access appropriate medical care.
The interaction with hospital staff provided an opportunity to review operational requirements and understand the challenges faced in delivering healthcare services within the railway system.
Inspection of Mysuru–Chamarajanagar section
Following the hospital inspection, the General Manager conducted a window trailing inspection of the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar section.
As part of the inspection, he reviewed railway infrastructure and operational facilities at Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar stations. The Station Master’s panel, station yard and points at both stations were examined during the visit.
The inspection focused on operational preparedness, infrastructure conditions and the progress of ongoing development works.
Officials briefed the General Manager on various works being undertaken in the section and the status of projects aimed at improving railway infrastructure and passenger facilities.
Amrit Bharat Station works reviewed
A major focus of the inspection was the progress of works being carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).
The scheme is aimed at improving railway stations through the development and modernisation of passenger amenities and station infrastructure.
P. Ananth reviewed the progress of the ABSS works and directed officials to expedite the projects. He instructed the concerned officers to ensure that the works are completed within the stipulated timeline.
At the same time, he stressed that speed of execution should not compromise quality or safety standards.
The General Manager directed officials to maintain the required standards throughout the construction and development process so that the upgraded facilities provide long-term benefits to passengers.
Level crossing gate inspected
The General Manager also inspected Level Crossing Gate No. 35 on the Nanjangud–Chamarajanagar section.
Level crossings remain an important component of railway safety, particularly on sections where railway tracks intersect with roads. The inspection enabled railway officials to review the facilities and safety arrangements at the crossing.
Safety and operational standards were emphasised during the inspection, with officials directed to ensure that railway infrastructure is maintained appropriately.
The visit formed part of the wider assessment of railway infrastructure and operational facilities across the Mysuru division.
Review meeting at DRM office
Later, P. Ananth chaired a review meeting at the DRM office in Mysuru to assess the overall performance of the division and review the progress of key projects.
The meeting focused on railway operations, infrastructure development and passenger services.
Officials reviewed various aspects of the division’s functioning and discussed measures to strengthen railway operations and improve facilities for passengers.
The General Manager stressed the importance of improving infrastructure while maintaining operational efficiency and safety.
The review also provided an opportunity to assess the progress of ongoing projects and identify areas where implementation needs to be accelerated.
Focus on passenger services and infrastructure
The inspection comes as railway authorities continue to focus on modernising infrastructure and improving passenger amenities across railway divisions.
For the Mysuru division, projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme are expected to play an important role in upgrading station facilities. Ensuring timely completion of such works while maintaining quality and safety will be crucial for improving the passenger experience.

The inspection and review meeting were attended by Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Shammas Hameed and other senior officers of the Mysuru division.
The officials accompanied the General Manager during the inspection and participated in discussions on infrastructure, operations, healthcare services and ongoing development works.
The visit concluded with directions to the concerned officials to prioritise safety, maintain quality standards and expedite important projects.
The inspection is expected to provide further momentum to infrastructure development in the Mysuru division, particularly works being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, while also drawing attention to the need for improved healthcare and passenger services.
