Cricket South Africa (CSA) has revised its schedule for the Proteas Women’s multi-format home series against India. The board has added a three-match T20I series to the tour in December. The revised tour is now scheduled from December 9 to 30, with the inclusion of the T20I.
CSA chief executive officer Pholetsi Moseki confirmed the revised schedule and highlighted the importance of the series ahead of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka next year.
“We are delighted to confirm the revised schedule for India’s tour of South Africa, with the addition of the T20 International series over the festive period, ensuring our Proteas Women have the best possible preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year,” he said via a press release. “India remain one of the strongest teams in world cricket, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats will provide invaluable competition as we continue building towards another major ICC event.”
According to the revised schedule, the T20I series will begin on December 26 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. The second and the third matche will be played at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom on December 29 and 30.
Before the T20Is, South Africa and India will also play a one-off Test in Gqeberha from December 9 to 12. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series in Paarl, Cape Town and Bloemfontein between December 16 and 22.
