Kohima, 13th July: An Assam Rifles soldier was killed and four others were injured in a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district on Monday, officials said.
The explosion occurred near an area where the Assam Rifles operates a training centre. According to officials, the personnel were travelling in a Bolero SUV when the suspected IED detonated, hitting the vehicle.
The injured soldiers were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been officially disclosed.
Following the attack, security forces launched a massive search operation in the area to trace those responsible. The blast site is located close to the Nagaland-Assam interstate border.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited.
