New Zealand kept their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign alive with a six-wicket win over Scotland at the Bristol County Ground, while Scotland’s hopes of reaching a maiden semi-final came to an end after their third defeat of the tournament.
Chasing 132, the White Ferns were under early pressure after slipping to 26/3 inside the powerplay. Kathryn Bryce led Scotland’s fight with the ball, removing Amelia Kerr and Isabella Gaze, while Rachel Slater bowled Sophie Devine to leave New Zealand in trouble.
But Izzy Sharp and Brooke Halliday turned the game around with a composed 101-run partnership. Sharp, batting at No. 3, played the starring role with 62, bringing up her maiden T20I half-century at a crucial stage of the chase. Halliday remained unbeaten on 41 as New Zealand reached the target in 18.2 overs.
Earlier, Darcey Carter’s unbeaten 72 had carried Scotland to a competitive 131/7 after New Zealand opted to bowl first. Carter looked in fine touch from the outset, finding boundaries regularly and anchoring the innings despite wickets falling around her. Sarah Bryce contributed 25, but Scotland lost momentum in the second half of the innings as Amelia Kerr struck with 3/17 and Sophie Devine chipped in with 2/19.
Carter’s knock ensured Scotland had something to defend, but Sharp’s maturity under pressure and Halliday’s calm support proved decisive in the chase.
The result moved New Zealand up to third in the table, two points behind England and the West Indies, keeping their qualification hopes alive heading into the final stretch of the group stage.
