One of the most anticipated IPL trades in recent weeks has been finally been confirmed by the IPL on Tuesday, with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returning to Delhi Capitals (DC) and left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The deal marks one of the biggest player swaps ahead of the IPL 2027 season. Pant will go back to the franchise where he spent nine years between 2016 and 2024 and established himself as one the most important players of DC. He played 111 matches for the team and also captained the side from 2021 to 2024.
LSG acquired Pant for Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. The wicketkeeper-batter will return to DC on a revised contract of Rs 15 crore.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep will start a new journey with LSG after spending five successful seasons with DC. Since joining DC in 2022, he claimed 72 wickets in 65 matches and became a key part of the team’s bowling attack.
The trade was is expected to strengthen their squads ahead of the next IPL season.
