Manika Batra in reserves, as TTFI Names Squads for 2026 Asian Games

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has announced the Indian squads for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with selections based primarily on world and national rankings.

The men’s team features experienced campaigners G Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai, Manav Vikas Thakkar and Manush Shah. Youngster Payas Jain has also been included in the five-member squad after a string of impressive performances on the domestic and international circuit. Ankur Bhattacharjee and Ronit Bhanja have been named as reserves.

In the women’s section, Sreeja Akula will spearhead India’s campaign alongside Yashaswini Ghorpade, Diya Chitale, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Syndrela Das. Swastika Ghosh and Manika Batra have been named as reserve players.

The table tennis competition at the Asian Games will be held from September 20 to 28. India will be aiming for a strong showing against traditional powerhouses such as China, Japan, South Korea and Chinese Taipei.

The squads reflect a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talent as India prepare for one of the continent’s biggest multi-sport events.
