Gujarat has unveiled its much-anticipated Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026, outlining a comprehensive roadmap to accelerate industrial growth, attract domestic and foreign investment, promote innovation, and create employment opportunities. The policy is designed to strengthen Gujarat’s position as India’s leading industrial hub while aligning with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The new policy places a strong emphasis on ease of doing business, with measures aimed at simplifying approvals, reducing compliance burdens, and improving investor facilitation. State officials said the initiative seeks to make Gujarat an even more attractive destination for industries looking to establish or expand operations.

One of the key highlights is the promotion of advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies, including sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and high-value engineering. The government aims to attract investments into future-ready industries that can drive long-term economic growth and global competitiveness.

The policy also introduces a new “Ultra Mega” industry category, intended to attract large-scale industrial projects with significant investment commitments. Industry experts believe this category could help Gujarat secure major manufacturing and infrastructure projects from both Indian and international investors.

Support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) remains a central pillar of the policy. The government plans to provide incentives, technology adoption assistance, skill development support, and easier access to finance to strengthen the MSME ecosystem and improve competitiveness.

Infrastructure development is another major focus area. The state is expanding its network of industrial estates and promoting the development of Smart GIDC estates equipped with integrated digital, utility, and logistics infrastructure. These initiatives are expected to enhance industrial efficiency and investment readiness across Gujarat.

The policy further aims to encourage innovation, research and development, and sustainable industrial practices. Officials have indicated that green manufacturing, renewable energy adoption, and environmentally responsible industrial growth will play a significant role in the state’s future economic strategy.

Employment generation and skill development form another important component of the policy. By attracting investments in high-growth sectors and supporting industrial expansion, the government expects to create substantial job opportunities while building a future-ready workforce.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the policy, viewing it as a forward-looking framework that combines investment promotion, infrastructure development, technological advancement, and sustainable growth. As Gujarat seeks to play a leading role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed economy by 2047, the Industrial Policy 2026 is expected to serve as a key driver of the state’s next phase of industrial transformation.
