Guwahati, 9th June: Five Muslim students of a government higher secondary school in Assam’s Goalpara district are reportedly facing expulsion following a controversy over the alleged bringing of beef onto the school premises, triggering a police investigation and raising tensions in the area.
According to reports, the issue surfaced after complaints were lodged by the families of two Hindu students studying at the school. The allegations led to police action, with authorities detaining one of the students, who is a minor, and arresting his mother.
Officials said a case was registered under provisions related to acts intended to outrage religious beliefs. The minor was subsequently produced before the appropriate judicial authority as per legal procedure.
