The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former India cricketer Sairaj Bahutule as the Spin Bowling coach for the men’s team. The appointment adds another experienced figure to the national coaching setup, with Bahutule bringing years of experience as both a player and a coach.

“It is a tremendous honour to be appointed as the Spin Bowling Coach of the Indian Men’s Cricket Team,” Bahutulesaid in an official statement. “Representing India as a player was a matter of immense pride, and the opportunity to contribute to Indian cricket once again in a coaching capacity is deeply special. I look forward to working with the players and supporting the team’s pursuit of excellence across formats.”

Bahutule represented India in two Test matches and eight One-Day Internationals. During his first-class career, he scored 6,176 runs and took 630 wickets, making him one of the most accomplished all-rounders in Indian domestic cricket.

After retiring from the game, Bahutule built a successful coaching career. He has served as head coach of Vidarbha, Kerala, Gujarat and Bengal. He also worked with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises such as Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) as a spin-bowling coach.

He played an important role in the development of India’s ICC Under-19 World Cup-winning team in 2022 and was part of the coaching staff again in 2024. Additionally, he has worked with India A, the senior men’s team and the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy, gaining valuable experience across different levels of the game.
