An Akasa Air flight operating from Bengaluru to Bhubaneswar was diverted to Lucknow after encountering adverse weather conditions near its destination, according to airline officials.
The flight, carrying passengers from Bengaluru to Bhubaneswar, was unable to land as scheduled due to unfavourable weather in the Odisha capital. As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was redirected to Lucknow, where it landed safely.
Safety-first decision by airline
Airline officials stated that the diversion was carried out in accordance with standard safety procedures. Passenger safety remained the top priority as weather conditions prevented a safe approach and landing at Bhubaneswar airport.
After weather conditions improved, the flight later resumed its journey and successfully reached Bhubaneswar.
Weather disruptions continue to affect air travel
The incident highlights the challenges airlines face during periods of unstable weather, particularly during the pre-monsoon and monsoon seasons. Flight diversions and delays are common when visibility, strong winds or heavy rainfall affect airport operations.
Aviation experts note that such diversions, while inconvenient for passengers, are routine safety measures designed to ensure safe flight operations.
Passengers reach destination safely
Akasa Air confirmed that all passengers were safe and that necessary assistance was provided during the diversion. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their understanding.
The incident underscores the aviation industry’s commitment to prioritising safety over operational schedules when weather conditions become challenging.
