Kolkata Police Set to Launch ‘Pink Security Booths’ for Enhanced Night Safety of Women

Published:

Kolkata Police is preparing to introduce ‘Pink Security Booths’ across the city as part of its intensified plan to improve night-time safety for women. These dedicated booths are expected to function as immediate support points for women in distress, offering access to police personnel, emergency assistance and quick response to harassment or unsafe situations.

The initiative is aimed at building a stronger sense of security in public spaces after dark. Each booth will be manned by specially trained police staff, with an emphasis on gender-sensitive handling of complaints. CCTV monitoring, helpline availability and patrolling units will be integrated with the booths for faster coordination and response.

The plan also includes strategic placement of these booths in busy localities, markets, transit points and areas with high evening or late-night footfall. Authorities believe this structured safety network will not only help prevent crime but also build confidence among women moving around the city during late hours.

Kolkata Police has stated that awareness drives will accompany the rollout to ensure women know where these booths are located and how to reach out for help. The initiative marks a proactive step in improving urban safety infrastructure and reinforcing trust in public policing.
