Mamata Banerjee to Address Anti-SIR Rally in Bengal’s Bangaon Today

Published:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to address a major anti-SIR rally in Bangaon today, intensifying her party’s campaign against the Centre’s proposed system that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has strongly criticised. The rally is expected to draw large crowds as party workers and supporters mobilise across the district.

According to TMC leaders, the event aims to highlight public concerns surrounding the SIR framework, which the party alleges could adversely impact the rights and welfare of citizens in the state. Mamata Banerjee is likely to reiterate her stance that the policy represents central overreach and threatens federal principles.

Security arrangements have been strengthened in Bangaon, with local administration coordinating traffic and crowd-control measures ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival. Senior TMC leaders, district officials and local representatives are also scheduled to be present at the rally.

Political analysts view the event as part of a broader mobilisation effort by the TMC, as Mamata Banerjee seeks to consolidate public opinion and galvanise grassroots support. The rally is also expected to set the tone for upcoming political activities in North 24 Parganas, where the party aims to reinforce its organisational strength.

Residents and supporters from nearby regions have already begun gathering, signalling a high-energy political environment as the Chief Minister prepares to address the crowd.
