Anakapalli: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives in a devastating factory explosion in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district.

In a condolence message, the Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
The mishap occurred at around 12:45 PM at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Kailasapatnam village under Kotavuratla Mandal. According to local police, four workers died on the spot, while four others succumbed to injuries while being rushed to the hospital. Five others sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a nearby medical facility. The deceased have been identified as residents of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada districts.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed the district authorities to ensure top-tier medical care for the injured. He also called for a thorough investigation and submission of a detailed report on the explosion.
The state government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹15 lakh to the families of each deceased victim and will cover the full cost of treatment for the injured.
Firefighters have brought the blaze under control, and forensic teams are currently probing the exact cause of the explosion. At the time of the accident, approximately 20 workers were present inside the facility.
